ROUTE puyo - tena

The bus journey from Puyo to Tena took 3hrs but with the bumping along the rutted stone track it felt a lot longer. It wasn’t helped by the bus spending the first 30 minutes cruising Puyo looking for passengers. I believe this road has recently been completely resurfaced but I haven´t been able to travel along it to check. You’re on the edge of the Amazon rainforest and there’s lots of green vegetation but it’s not as if you’re going to see monkeys swinging from trees. This is colonized “jungle” and you pass the odd village or isolated house. If you look west you can see the foothills of the Andes. Apart from that its not actually interesting so it’s quite a relief when you reach Puerto Napo – from here it’s only a few km north to Tena. From Puerto Napo a road runs east to Misuahualli where you can organise jungle tours.
