This village is located on the road down to Baeza and the Oriente, about 40 miles from Quito, just as you start to descend from the high páramo region. It is a beautiful setting to visit the thermal baths which are the main reason for stopping here (you can also walk and ride in the area which is on the edge of the Reserva Ecológica Cayambe-Coca).
There are a few baths you can visit but the best are at the Hotel Termas de Papallacta which you can pay to enter for the day. The cost is $18 for adults and $12 for children.
Where to Stay
Apart from the Hotel Termas de Papallacta there are also a few more basic hosterías and hostales in the village.
