The only reasons you will stop in Huaquillas will be to cross the border with Peru or to organise travel to Puyango.

Even in these cases it’s best to avoid stopping for too long, partly because there is nothing special to see and partly because there are lots of people trying to rip you off. If you do have time to kill you can have a look at the international bridge, with your hands in your pockets, or sit in the central square which is nice enough.
