Covered markets and specialist shops in Quito, Cuenca and Guayaquil sell a range of handicrafts, and you can find weavings all over the place. Consult the shopping sections on the pages for those cities for more details.

You can find galleries in the major cities (consult the shopping sections on the pages for those cities).

As well as a gallery in Las Peñas, Guayaquil, the artist Quimbita has a gallery in Olon along the Ruta del Sol.

Tigua, near Quilotoa in Cotopaxi province, is famous for a simplistic, colourful style of painting and several galleries and workshops are open to visitors in the community.

Trekking equipment

There are a couple of shops in the Mall del Sol in Guayaquil and some in Cuenca, but the widest choice is definitely in Quito.
